Originally from Dublin, Ireland, I received my B.Sc. in Pharmacology from University College Dublin in 2014. I joined the lab of Dr. Breandán Kennedy where I began studying the retina, and specifically cone photoreceptors in Zebrafish. I was awarded a PhD scholarship from the NIH-Wellcome Trust where I could split my PhD between Dr. Kennedy's lab, and the lab of Dr. Anand Swaroop at the National Eye Institute (NEI), part of the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. I defended my dissertation in March 2019, and am completing my investigation into a mitochondrial factor at the NIH for my postdoc.
I'm currently based in the Neurobiology, Neurodegeneration and Repair Lab in the NEI.
